Parents: Herscu Zvoristeanu RM-20
Note: Discovered another son Joseph, so now 4 daughters and 2 sons.
Source: Contact: Wendy Ceracche - Email 19 Jun 2001 S7-7
Note: Had 4 daughters and 1 son. The daughters were extremely bright (3 of them later became doctors), but the son Baruch (Bernard) was of average intelligence. When the Focsaners left for America, they wanted to take the son with them. The family declined the offer. Baruch was about 12 at the time. Two years later, at the age of 14, he received poor grades at school and couldn't face his family. He hanged himself. This had a profound effect on the 4 sisters. Sixty years later, they spoke of their tragedy as if it happened yesterday. This may be the reason that 3 of the sisters never married and lived in the same house their father Isaac built so many years ago. They kept the same furniture and maintained everything in the house the way it was from years ago.

Note: One day a young Christian man killed his girlfriend and threw here body into the backyard of the Gerber household. The body was then discovered by three of the Gerber sons, Ziegmund, Nachman and Aaron aged 15, 13, and 11. The authorities came and arrested the 3 boys. Thier mother went with gold and silver to the governor in Iasi, the capital of the area Moldaavia. Nothing could be done and the boys were sent to jail. At the time there was much anti-Semitism and pogroms against the Jews. They were unsuccessful at getting help from Germany and France and spent a great deal of time and money. After 3 years, the murderer was caught and he confessed. The brothers were then released. They were so embittered that they never lived in Dorohoi agian. Aaron went to Turkey, changed his name, and they never heard from him again. Nachman changed his last name to Zvoristeanu and went to Bacau Romania.
